TED Talks
TED talks are 20 minute talks by experts on topics of interest. Originally Technology, Entertainment and Design. There are several thousand talks available.
Get Involved with TED.com - TED is a global organisation, and the speakers are experts or top talent, from all over the world. TEDx is locally organised TED-like presentations, such as we get with TEDx Christchurch, but once again the people chosen to speak, have unusual knowledge, expertise or talent.
This is the TED About Homepage, which explains it's organisational structure. Eleven of the best TED talks every given have been showcased here. Our group will ignore these talks, assuming everyone has seen them. Be sure that includes you.
Join TED.com as a member and subscribe for the weekly newsletter. Look at the resources there. They are enormous. Here are some starting places. TED Topics: 1000 or so selected TED talks, organised by topic. And finally the TED Blog, full of interesting stuff.
TED talks are one way to find and explore new and interesting topics.
We hope it will also be a way to meet new and interesting friends.
This is not a technology festival. The use of technology should be unobtrusive. The technology involved is very simple, just a web browser and the ability to navigate with a mouse. Everyone can do it.
Chris Anderson spoke to RNZ National on 18th May at 10am. Here is a page about that interview.

The club will make a roster of presenters, we think two for each meeting. You will be asked to choose a TED talk that you like. When presenting your speaker, you will tell us who the presenter is, and why this talk is interesting, or funny, or important. At the end of the talk we'll have a short discussion.
